Masha Lokshin

Associate

I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology and Spanish at the University of Alberta in 2007. After working for several years in the hospitality industry, and spending a couple of years abroad, I decided to pursue a legal career. I graduated from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC in 2018.

During law school, I provided supervised legal services through the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, primarily in criminal matters. During my articles, I worked on family, estate, and general civil litigation matters. Since my call to the bar in 2020, I have focused primarily on family law, while also maintaining a wills and estates practice.

While a significant portion of my practice is devoted to representing clients at all levels of court in BC, I aim to explore options for out-of-court resolutions wherever possible. In my advice to clients, I endeavour to set out realistic outcomes and encourage reasonable positions. I believe this allows people to make informed decisions about what course of action they wish to take and, especially when both sides are able to approach matters in this way, can significantly reduce the emotional and financial cost of family disputes. I am available to assist with a broad range of family law issues, with particular interests in Hague Convention and appeal proceedings.

Outside of work, my time is generally devoted to my fur babies, friends, salsa dancing, and enjoying the BC outdoors, weather permitting.
